A First Look at Mosquito Fire District Board Candidates

Eight candidates are seeking four seats on the Mosquito Fire Protection District Board in the November 3rd election. This first look introduces the candidates who chose to share a statement with the community, offering residents an early view of their backgrounds, priorities, and vision for Mosquito Fire Protection District.

The election presents an important choice about the district’s future. Residents are hearing two very different approaches: one rooted in familiar patterns of closed decision-making and resistance to public scrutiny, and another centered on accountable leadership, community participation, and a practical plan for sustainable emergency services.

A Choice About Direction

At its core, this election is about whether the district moves beyond longstanding dysfunction or continues operating under the same culture that has too often divided the community and distracted from the essential work of public safety.

A community-centered approach means directors who welcome questions, communicate openly, listen to residents and volunteers, and make decisions based on the long-term stability of emergency response—not personalities or politics. It means confronting difficult issues directly, supporting firefighters and district leadership, pursuing partnerships where they improve service, and building a financially responsible path forward.

Every candidate was invited to participate in this effort. Four shared statements and are featured in the order their responses were received; four either declined to participate or did not respond. That distinction is meaningful: public service requires a willingness to engage with the people a board member seeks to represent.
