

AN ELECTION WITH URGENCY
Mosquito Fire Department faces longstanding challenges, making this year’s election one of the most consequential in our community’s history. Years of dysfunction, mismanagement, and inconsistent leadership have affected the Fire Station and our emergency services.
Eight candidates are running for four open seats to represent Mosquito and make decisions affecting every resident. Learn about the candidates, the issues, and what’s at stake for our community’s future.

INITIAL CANDIDATE OUTREACH
The following are the eight candidates seeking four seats on the Mosquito Fire Protection District Board.
On Friday, August 7, each candidate was invited to participate in this community information effort by sharing a brief introduction and their vision for the district.
Four candidates responded and are presented below in the order their responses were received. The remaining four candidates either declined to participate or did not respond.

Jamae Lacey
Jamae is an El Dorado County Humane Society volunteer and disaster-response team member who supported animal rescue during the Caldor and Crozier fires. She is running to bring transparent, accountable leadership, strong preparedness, and sustainable public-safety solutions to Mosquito.

Selah Valiente
Selah brings business-technology training, prior community board volunteer experience, and a personal commitment shaped by the loss of his childhood home in the Caldor Fire. He is running to strengthen financial stability, modernize operations, improve transparency, and sustain reliable emergency services.

Linnea Uggla
Linnea Uggla, a seasoned candidate for the Mosquito Fire Protection District Board, was appointed and then elected to complete a full term of service. As Board President, she has developed a firsthand understanding of the district’s governance and the responsibility of representing the community. She confronts longstanding dysfunction directly pursuing new era of stable, sustainable emergency services for Mosquito.

Jackie LeMasters
Jacke LeMasters is a longtime Mosquito resident, former 10-year volunteer firefighter, and State of California investigator. She is running to bring transparent, balanced leadership, support firefighter recruitment and retention, strengthen the Chief’s operational backing, and advance the Shared Services Agreement.

Meredith Blain
