Linnea Uggla, a seasoned candidate for the Mosquito Fire Protection District Board, was appointed and then elected to complete a full term of service. As Board President, she has developed a firsthand understanding of the district’s governance and the responsibility of representing the community. She confronts longstanding dysfunction directly pursuing new era of stable, sustainable emergency services for Mosquito.
I am seeking reelection to the Mosquito Fire Protection District Board of Directors because I believe our community deserves dependable, sustainable fire protection and emergency medical services. Since I was first appointed to the Board in 2021 and later elected to a full term, I have developed a firsthand understanding of the District’s importance, its governance responsibilities, and the challenges that have limited its progress.
As Board President, I have worked to confront longstanding dysfunction, strengthen relationships, and build trust with County leaders, neighboring fire districts, command staff, firefighters, volunteers, and community members. I believe Mosquito is a resilient community with tremendous potential. Our fire district is essential to protecting residents, responding to medical emergencies, preparing for wildfire, and helping sustain the future of our community.
I am committed to practical solutions that strengthen emergency services while using public resources responsibly. I support regional partnerships and shared-services opportunities that can expand training, improve administrative and operational support, stabilize finances, strengthen leadership, and provide greater support for firefighters and volunteers. I believe shared services can help preserve Mosquito’s local identity while ensuring the District has the capacity to deliver reliable, high-quality services over the long term.
In addition to my Board service, I have recently completed EMT training and am a Nationally-registered Emergency Medical Technician. This experience has given me a deeper appreciation for emergency medical response and the professional demands placed on frontline personnel. I remain focused on supporting our staff and volunteers through training, professional development, recruitment, retention, and the resources needed to serve the community effectively.
Looking ahead, my priorities include maintaining reliable fire and medical response, improving financial stability, reducing wildfire risk through partnerships and grant-funded mitigation efforts, and building stronger, more collaborative relationships with neighboring agencies and County leaders. With the new bridge, regional support, and renewed momentum for cooperation, I believe Mosquito has a meaningful opportunity to build a stable, resilient, and sustainable fire district for generations to come.
